Baseball Recap: University Comes Up Short

After flying high against Blackford on Saturday, University came back down to earth. The Trailblazers fell just short of the Kokomo Wildkats by a score of 6-5 on Saturday.

Cooper Cammack was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.1 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with one triple and one run.

In other batting news, Griffin Wright was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

University's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Kokomo, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season.

University will head out on the road to take on Lapel at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Kokomo, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Richmond at 6:00 p.m. The Wildkats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Red Devils have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
