Basketball Recap: Lavaca Takes a Loss

Lavaca lost against Lamar back in February of 2020 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Lavaca Golden Arrows took a blow against the Lamar Warriors, falling 71-34. The contest marked the Golden Arrows' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lamar to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kendrick Carr, who went 8 for 14 on his way to 16 points in addition to six rebounds and three blocks. Those three blocks gave Carr a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaz Crotts, who went 6 for 9 on his way to 16 points and six rebounds.

Lavaca's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 8-4. As for Lamar, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-1.

Lavaca didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-27 loss against Subiaco Academy on the 19th. As for Lamar, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mansfield at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lamar knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten contests -- so hopefully Mansfield likes a good challenge.
