Baseball Recap: Liberty Comes Up Short

Liberty extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-5. They lost 17-4 to the McDonald Blue Devils. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Leopards of the 21-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.

As for McDonald, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 17.5 runs this season.

For McDonald's part, Anthony Larson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Larson was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jordan Perry, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Brady Klockner was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Liberty will head out to face off against Brookfield at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for McDonald, they will venture away from home to challenge Ursuline at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
