Tri-Central hasn't had much luck against Rossville recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Trojans will welcome the Hornets at 5:30 p.m. Rossville took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Tri-Central, who comes in off a win.
Tri-Central took a 11-run loss the last time they faced off against Eastern, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Trojans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over the Comets on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Trojans have posted since April 17th.
Layla Baldwin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). Baldwin was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Logan Creason, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.
Meanwhile, Rossville has relied on a stalwart pitcher averaging 3.41 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Saturday. They fell 10-7 to Highland. The Hornets' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Like Tri-Central, Rossville also got a great game from a two-way player: Avery Layton. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and six unearned) runs off ten hits (and only one walk). Layton has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Brielle Layton was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Allie Elliott, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Rossville's loss dropped their record down to 13-4. As for Tri-Central, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-9.
