Softball Preview: Ford Panthers vs. Wills Point Tigers
After two games on the road, Ford is heading back home. They will take on the Wills Point Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ford is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Ford stacked a 12th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Mabank as Ford made off with a 10-4 win. The victory was just what Ford needed coming off of a 13-3 defeat in their prior match.
Presley Junell made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Junell was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Preslielyn Barraza was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last eight times she's played. Lillian Barraza was another key contributor, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles.
Meanwhile, Wills Point was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell victim to a rough 14-1 defeat at the hands of Kaufman.
Wills Point saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Loryn Witherspoon, who went 1-for-2 with a home run.
Ford has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. As for Wills Point, their loss dropped their record down to 7-15-1.
