Canton hasn't had much luck against Mansfield recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Bulldogs will venture away from home to take on the Hornets at 4:15 p.m. Canton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Canton took a nine-run defeat the last time they faced off against Franklin, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bulldogs had just enough and edged out the Panthers 7-5. Seven seems to be a good number for the Bulldogs as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Dean Madden tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Andrew Gillis, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Tommy Rose was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, Mansfield came up short against Taunton on Friday, falling 11-1. The Hornets haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Mansfield saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Rogan, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Canton is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-4-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games. As for Mansfield, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.
