High Point Academy is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game dating back to last season on Wednesday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of Broome. One positive for the Grizzlies, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

High Point Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cadence Courtney, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Those two hits gave Courtney a new career-high. Alyx Creel was another, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Blacksburg posted their closest victory since April 1, 2024 on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Spartanburg 9-8. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won three in a row.
Lucy Thayer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That double marked the first that she hit this season.
In other batting news, Morgan Merritt was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Taylor Tessner, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.
Blacksburg kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Blacksburg pushed their record up to 4-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for High Point Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.
