Basketball Recap: Catherine Wells Key Part of a Team Effort in Mighty Oaks Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Catholic, Norfolk Collegiate was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They walked away with a 44-34 win over the Cape Henry Collegiate Dolphins. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 48-32 back in November of 2024.

Norfolk Collegiate got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Catherine Wells out in front who posted 12 points along with six boards and four steals. Sanaa Coone was another key player, putting up eight points and seven rebounds.

Norfolk Collegiate smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Norfolk Collegiate pushed their record up to 5-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. As for Cape Henry Collegiate, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Norfolk Collegiate will head out to take on Hampton Roads Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hampton Roads Academy will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Norfolk Collegiate surely won't give up without a fight. Cape Henry Collegiate has already played their next game (against Steward), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
