Yarmouth is a perfect 5-0 against Gardiner since September of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Clippers will take on the Tigers at 5:30 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Yarmouth has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Gardiner will arrive with ten straight victories.

Yarmouth is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Maine's top teams: York, who was ranked first at the time (Yarmouth was ranked 12th). The Clippers lost 3-0 to the Wildcats on Tuesday.

While Yarmouth ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 19 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-19, 25-19.

Meanwhile, Gardiner got the win against Lewiston on Monday by a conclusive 3-0.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Gardiner took every set by at least 17 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-7, 25-4, 25-8.

Yarmouth's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Gardiner, their win bumped their record up to 10-1.

Everything went Yarmouth's way against Gardiner when the teams last played back in August of 2023, as Yarmouth made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Clippers since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
