Basketball Recap: JR Gillespie (HS) Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Fairwinds Christian

Calvary Christian Academy won the last time they faced Fairwinds Christian and things went their way on Thursday too. The Calvary Christian Academy LIONS strolled past the Fairwinds Christian Knights with points to spare, taking the game 58-41. The LIONS pushed the score to 49-23 by the end of the third, a deficit the Knights cut but never quite recovered from.

Calvary Christian Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was JR Gillespie (HS), who went 6 of 10 on his way to 13 points. William Burack also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

Calvary Christian Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Fairwinds Christian still got an impressive performance from Solomon McCloud, who went 8 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 35 points. With that strong performance, McCloud is now averaging an impressive 15.8 points per game.

The victory snapped Calvary Christian Academy's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-8 record. As for Fairwinds Christian, they dropped their record down to 0-11 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

As for Fairwinds Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 42-39 loss against Faith Baptist School on the 31st.
