The Redwater Dragons will face off against the De Kalb Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Redwater: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while De Kalb has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road.
Redwater had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt New Boston on Friday. Redwater put the hurt on New Boston with a sharp 13-1 victory. The Dragons haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Addison Bruner made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance gave her a new career-low in hits. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. In other batting news, Alivia Thompson was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. Those runs marked the first that she scored this season. Another player making a difference was Karly Jo Brown, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Redwater was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, De Kalb won against Atlanta on Friday with 16 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. De Kalb beat New Boston by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 16-1. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Kaydee Brown made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Addison Starrett and Kaitlin Parks did most of the damage at the plate: Starrett went 2-for-3 with five RBI and two runs, while Parks scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Starrett has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played. TT Ingram was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI.
De Kalb is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. Redwater's victory bumped their record up to 3-9-1.
Redwater came out on top in a nail-biter against De Kalb when the teams last played back in March of 2024, sneaking past 6-4. Does Redwater have another victory up their sleeve, or will De Kalb turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
