Soccer Game Preview: Douglass vs. Washington

The Douglass Astros will take on the Washington Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Washington took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Douglass, who comes in off a win.

Douglass' defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on KIPP Atlanta Collegiate with a sharp 5-0 victory.

Meanwhile, Washington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 7-0 to Mundy's Mill. While losing is never fun, Washington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 382nd, while Mundy's Mill are ranked 190th).

Douglass has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 24 goals over those seven contests. As for Washington, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

Douglass beat Washington by a goal when the teams last played back in February, winning 5-4. Do the Astros have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
