Softball Recap: Blue Ridge Drops Highest Score of Season Against Cornerstone Christian

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Blue Ridge). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Cornerstone Christian Cyclones a 15-0 shutout on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Knights considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Ellie Schlieper and Lillian Enger were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Schlieper pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Enger pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Schlieper has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Schlieper went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI, while Enger went 1-for-2 with one home run. That's the most RBI Schlieper has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Carsyn Stiger was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and one RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Presley Hardesty, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Blue Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Blue Ridge's record now sits at 4-7.

Blue Ridge wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland] on the 18th. Cornerstone Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
