Baseball Game Preview: Madera South Stallions vs. Sunnyside Wildcats

The Madera South Stallions will face off against the Sunnyside Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sunnyside took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Madera South, who comes in off a win.

If Madera South beats Sunnyside with eight runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. Madera South had just enough and edged out Roosevelt 8-7. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Jeremiah Montes made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, David Moles and Emiliano Guerrero did most of the damage at the plate: Moles scored a run while going 1-for-2, while Guerrero scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Those two hits gave Guerrero a new career-high.

Madera South was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Sunnyside came up short against Hoover on Friday, falling 7-1. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sunnyside's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Madera South, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 3-8.
