Basketball Game Preview: Washington Tech Eagles vs. Humboldt Hawks

Washington Tech and Humboldt are an even 4-4 against one another since January of 2016, but not for long. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Washington Tech Eagles challenge the Humboldt Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 103-69, which was the final score in Washington Tech's tilt against Johnson on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 279th, while the Governors are ranked 81st).

Meanwhile, Humboldt was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 72-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of Como Park.

Washington Tech now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Humboldt, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.

Washington Tech lost to Humboldt on the road by a decisive 80-65 margin in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Washington Tech avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
