Baseball Game Preview: Sehome Mariners vs. Anacortes Seahawks

The Sehome Mariners will square off against the Anacortes Seahawks at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sehome's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Anacortes' hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Tuesday, Sehome came up short against Lynden Christian and fell 8-5. The Mariners haven't had much luck with the Lyncs recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Gunnar Tweit put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Tweit was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.

Tweit wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ryder McGrath, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Anacortes). They never let Mt. Baker get on the board and left with an 18-0 win on Tuesday. The Seahawks haven't had any issues with the Mountaineers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Sehome's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Anacortes, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Sehome might still be hurting after the 7-0 loss they got from Anacortes in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Sehome avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
