Soccer Game Preview: Mt. Zion vs. Effingham

The Mt. Zion Braves will head out to take on the Effingham Hearts at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Effingham will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Mt. Zion extended their winning streak to five on Tuesday. The Braves never let Taylorville get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for Mt. Zion considering their one-goal performance the contest before.

Meanwhile, Effingham made easy work of Hillsboro on Wednesday and carried off a 4-1 win. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 3-0.

Mt. Zion's victory bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Effingham, their win bumped their record up to 16-1-3.

Mt. Zion suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Effingham in their previous matchup back in September. Can the Braves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
