Volleyball Recap: San Ysidro Cougars vs. Vista Panthers
San Ysidro was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Vista Panthers. While the Cougars didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Panthers 25-12 in the first set.
San Ysidro actually scored more points across those five sets (104-95), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 12-25, 25-22, 18-25, 25-22, 15-10.
Kaylie Gutierrez and Daniela Lopez certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Gutierrez had eight digs and seven aces, while Lopez had five aces.
San Ysidro's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Vista, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-6.
After both having extra time off, San Ysidro and Liberty Charter will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Vista, they will face off against Murrieta Mesa at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
