Baseball Recap: Newark Takes a Loss

Newark had lost four straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 4-5 to make it five. They fell just short of the Palmyra-Macedon Red Raiders by a score of 4-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 on April 9th.

Nolan Rice was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

As for Palmyra-Macedon, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.

On Palmyra-Macedon's side, Ryan Caffyn was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.

Coincidentally, Newark and Palmyra-Macedon will both be playing Mynderse Academy the next time they take the field. The Red Raiders will host the Blue Devils at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Reds will host them at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
