Basketball Recap: Alliance Aviators vs. Canton South Wildcats

Even though the Alliance Aviators have not done well against the Canton South Wildcats recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Alliance walked away with a 41-34 win over the Wildcats. The victory was familiar territory for Alliance who now have three in a row.

Canton South lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Summer Hastings-Peterson, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals. Hastings-Peterson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sydney Comer, who scored 13 points along with two steals.

Alliance pushed their record up to 7-13 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Canton South, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Alliance will take on the Quakers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. New Philadelphia is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak. As for Canton South, they will be playing at home against the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
