Softball Recap: Pioneer Panthers vs. Tonawanda Warriors
Pioneer gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Tonawanda Warriors. After an 18-17 finish the last time they played, Pioneer and Tonawanda decided to play a little more cautiously this time around.
Haylee Heldwein was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pioneer will square off against Lake Shore at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pioneer is no doubt hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. As for Tonawanda, they will head out on the road to challenge Alden at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Tonawanda will come in still looking for their first win of the season.
