Basketball Recap: Whitney Wiles' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Durham Academy over Forsyth Country Day

Durham Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 44-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Forsyth Country Day Furies. The Cavaliers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Furies from their previous meeting back in February of 2016.

Several Cavaliers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Whitney Wiles, who posted eight points and seven boards. The dominant performance gave Wiles a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Freedman, who earned nine points.

Forsyth Country Day's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gigi Lyons, who put up 25 points. Lila Kelly was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Durham Academy now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Forsyth Country Day, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-10.

Durham Academy will take on St. Mary's at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Forsyth Country Day, they will host High Point Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Forsyth Country Day is facing High Point Christian Academy at the right time seeing as High Point Christian Academy is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
