Soccer Game Preview: Richmond vs. Alameda

The Richmond Oilers will take on the Alameda Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Richmond is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They never let Albany onto the board and left with a 1-0 win. The result kept the Oilers happy, as they haven't lost a game since December 28, 2024.

Meanwhile, Alameda made easy work of San Leandro on Friday and carried off a 3-0 victory. Given the Hornets' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 164th, while the Pirates are ranked 866th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Richmond's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2. As for Alameda, their victory bumped their record up to 14-4.

Richmond was able to grind out a solid win over Alameda in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, winning 2-0. Will Richmond repeat their success, or does Alameda have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
