Softball Recap: Dalton Turns Things Around After Road Loss

Dalton's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Wadsworth on Friday. The Bulldogs never let the West Holmes Knights get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Bulldogs' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Peyton Neiger looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Hannah Wenger and Arabella Wenger did most of the damage at the plate: Hannah went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Arabella went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave Arabella a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Skylar Fletcher, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Dalton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Holmes only posted a batting average of .000.

Dalton's record is now 18-10. As for West Holmes, they dropped their record down to 8-12 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Coming up, Dalton will be taking part in a tournament against Waynedale at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for West Holmes, they will challenge Meadowbrook at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Colts' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
