Houlka is 9-1 against Smithville since January of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Houlka Wildcats are taking a road trip to challenge the Smithville Seminoles at 7:30 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Houlka and four for Smithville.

Houlka is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against West Union on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Houlka was dealt a 68-33 defeat at the hands of West Union. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Wildcats have suffered since November 16, 2024.

Meanwhile, Smithville was beaten by West Union 71-34 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Seminoles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while the Eagles are ranked 66th).

Houlka's defeat dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Smithville, their loss dropped their record down to 3-13.

Houlka strolled past Smithville in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a score of 72-56. Will Houlka repeat their success, or does Smithville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
