Basketball Recap: Steven Bubon's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Howland over Ursuline

Howland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 66-56 to the Ursuline Fighting Irish. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 331st, while the Fighting Irish are ranked 46th).

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Steven Bubon, who went 5-for-9 en route to 13 points. Bubon is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Anthony Chieffo, who posted nine points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Howland's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Ursuline, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.

Howland didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 52-38 defeat against South Range on the 11th. As for Ursuline, they have also already played their next game, a 57-51 loss against Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin on the 11th.
