Estancia entered their tilt with Raton on Wednesday with 20 consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 21. They narrowly escaped with a  victory as the  squad sidled past the Tigers  8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  win the Bears have posted  since April 12th.
 Jhenna Valencia was a  major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out six batters over  seven innings while giving up just two earned  (and four unearned) runs off   two  hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't  tossed less than six  strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate,  getting on base  in all four of her plate appearances with two  runs and one  double.
 In other batting news,  Peyton Looper and  Ana Cuevas did most of the damage at the plate:  Looper  went 2-for-4 with three  RBI and one  double, while  Cuevas  went 2-for-4 with two  doubles and two  RBI. Looper is  on a roll when it comes to  RBI, as she's  now  brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's  played.  Karina Villafuerte was another key player,  going 2-for-3 with two  runs and one  stolen base.
Estancia's victory was  their ninth straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 25-2. As for Raton, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-11.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Estancia beat the Tigers by a score of  8-6 later that day.
