Baseball Recap: Timber Creek Regional Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses at Home

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Timber Creek Regional ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They skirted past the Triton Mustangs 7-6. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Brycen Monitzer looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Timber Creek Regional's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 2-1 (and 3-6 when he doesn't).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cole Scanlan, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Timber Creek Regional: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three hits, but 2-7 otherwise. Nick Traynor was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Timber Creek Regional's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-7. As for Triton, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Timber Creek Regional will welcome Cumberland at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Triton, they will challenge Clearview at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Pioneers' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Mustangs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
