Basketball Game Preview: El Paso Tigers vs. Canutillo Eagles

The El Paso Tigers will head out to face off against the Canutillo Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in El Paso's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matches.

If El Paso beats Canutillo with 57 points on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. El Paso came out on top against Burges by a score of 57-48 on Friday.

Meanwhile, Canutillo was able to grind out a solid victory over Jefferson on Friday, taking the game 53-44. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 296th, while the Silver Foxes are ranked 1181st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Canutillo pushed their record up to 20-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for El Paso, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-13 record this season.

El Paso came up short against Canutillo in their previous meeting back in January, falling 52-40. Can El Paso avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
