Softball Game Preview: Hoover Cardinals vs. La Jolla Vikings

Hoover is on a six-game streak of home losses, and La Jolla a four-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Friday. The Hoover Cardinals will look to defend their home field against the La Jolla Vikings at 4:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Hoover came up short against High Tech SD on Wednesday, falling 19-4.

Hoover saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lilly Robles, who went 1-for-2 with two runs. Another was Priscilla Lopez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

La Jolla couldn't beat Lincoln on Friday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fifth inning. The Vikings lost 20-8 to the Hornets.

Jerri Taylor was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Madeleine Ehlert, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Hoover's defeat dropped their record down to 4-17. As for La Jolla, their loss dropped their record down to 8-13.

Friday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Hoover has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .556. However, it's not like La Jolla struggles in that department as they've averaged .471. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
