Softball Recap: Sacred Heart Academy vs. Foran Lions

Sacred Heart Academy had lost 11 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 1-6 to make it 12. They fell 5-2 to the Foran Lions. Sacred Heart Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Foran apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2021.

As for Foran, the win keeps they at an undefeated 9-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average this season.

For Foran's part, Abigail Corris spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up 13 Ks. Corris has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Maddie Deldin was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Norah Bove, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sacred Heart Academy will face off against Hillhouse at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Foran, they will challenge Branford at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
