Preview: La Plata Bulldogs vs. Meadville Eagles
After three games on the road, La Plata is heading back home. They will take on the Meadville Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Wednesday, La Plata lost to Atlanta on the road by a decisive 66-48 margin. While losing is never fun, La Plata can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 486th, while Atlanta is ranked 181st).
Meanwhile, Meadville pushed their score all the way to 57 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. The matchup between them and Hale wasn't particularly close, with Meadville falling 73-57. Meadville was down 53-32 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Meadville's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Gauge Shiflett, who scored 15 points along with two steals, and Donivan Schreckhise who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Quentyn Smith, who scored five points.
La Plata has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Meadville, they now have a losing record at 9-10.
