Basketball Recap: Coastal Brigade Comes Up Short

Coastal Brigade was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 48-46 heartbreaker at the hands of the Jacksonville Christian Academy Conquerors.

Despite the loss, Coastal Brigade saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Beau Brake dropped a double-double with 20 points and ten boards. That was a full 43.5% of Coastal Brigade's points, marking the fourth time in a row Brake has posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Liam Harris, who put up nine points along with six rebounds and three steals.

CJ Mendoza was nothing short of spectacular for Jacksonville Christian Academy: he went 9-for-18 on his way to 23 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Pierson Santiago, who had 12 points along with five assists and three steals.

Coastal Brigade's defeat dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Jacksonville Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 6-18.

Coastal Brigade does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Jacksonville Christian Academy, they will be taking part in a tournament against Community Christian on Thursday.
