Softball Game Preview: Rappahannock Raiders vs. Westmoreland Eagles

For the second straight game, Rappahannock will face off against Westmoreland. The Raiders will square off against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rappahannock is coming into the game hot, having won their last nine games.

Rappahannock's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Westmoreland with a sharp 10-0 victory. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.

Avery Brann made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Cameron Nash was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kahler Goodman, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Rappahannock's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.8 runs over those games. As for Westmoreland, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-7 record.
