Basketball Recap: Ruthie Casey Key Part of Team Effort in Huskies Win + How To Watch

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Plateau Valley, Battle Mountain was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Soroco Rams 39-36. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Huskies have posted since December 6, 2024.

Battle Mountain got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ruthie Casey out in front who posted 15 points. Those 15 points gave Casey a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kate Kovacik, who had ten points.

When it comes to explaining why Soroco lost, don't look at Kiley Iacovetto. Despite the final result, she earned four points in addition to seven boards and five assists.

Battle Mountain now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Soroco, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Battle Mountain will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Rifle at 7:00 p.m. on the 16th. As for Soroco, they will be taking part in a tournament against Telluride at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
