Liberty North dropped down to 4-3 on Friday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell 27-20 to the Lee's Summit North Broncos. The contest marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Liberty North's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zemar Cheatam, who rushed for 119 yards and one score. Cheatam's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 105 rushing yards. Another player making a difference was Brennan Smith, who rushed for 37 yards and one TD.

Even if they lost, Liberty North's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Trey Newman, Brady Robinson, and Brody Anderson, who each picked up one sack apiece. Liberty North got some further help from Ty Lange: he made 16 total tackles.

As for Lee's Summit North, their win bumped their record up to 5-2. The victory continues a trend for them in their matchups with Liberty North: they've now won three in a row.

Stephen Thomas Jr was nothing short of spectacular: he threw for 167 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 40 yards and one score. His passing game has become a key predictor of Lee's Summit North's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. William Ray was in the mix as well, providing the Broncos with two TDs.

Looking ahead, Liberty North will look to defend their home field on Friday against Rockhurst at 7:00 p.m. As for Lee's Summit North, they will head out on the road to challenge Lee's Summit West at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
