Softball Recap: Many Snags Fourth Win in Last Five Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lakeside, Many was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They never let the Hornbeck Hornets get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. Considering the Tigers have won four contests by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Baylee Samples was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Layken Foster was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Caylee Downs was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases.

Many has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. Hornbeck dropped their record down to 0-5 with the loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Many will take on Iowa in a tournament on Saturday. As for Hornbeck, they will host Simpson at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
