Basketball Game Preview: Fredonia Yellowjackets vs. Cherryvale Chargers

Fredonia is 0-10 against Cherryvale since February of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Fredonia Yellowjackets will be playing at home against the Cherryvale Chargers.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 51-16, which was the final score in Fredonia's tilt against Neodesha on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Yellowjackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 314th, while the Blue Streaks are ranked 89th).

Meanwhile, Cherryvale had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.4 points) and they went ahead and made it nine on Tuesday. They really took it to the Red Devils for the full four quarters, racking up an 82-33 win. The Chargers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Cherryvale pushed their record up to 10-2-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points per game. As for Fredonia, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-11.
