Baseball Recap: Whitefish Bay's Loss Ends Nine-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Whitefish Bay dropped their record down to 16-5 on Friday, which also ended the team's nine-game streak of wins on the road dating back to last season. They fell just short of the West Bend West Spartans by a score of 2-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 on May 2nd.

As for West Bend West, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-8. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games.

For West Bend West's part, Brody Renk tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off nine hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave Renk a new career-high.

On the hitting side, West Bend West saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landon Wertz, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Whitefish Bay will challenge Slinger at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for West Bend West, they will square off against Kewaskum at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Indians will roll in looking for their 13th straight win, something the Spartans surely won't give up without a fight.
