League recap: Foundation Academy bests Doral Academy in blowout

2A District 4 recap October 8, 2013

Foundation Academy took down Doral Academy 24-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Alec Thompson threw for 259 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 63 yards during the win.

Caleb Lewis threw for 250 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Thompson was a passing and rushing force as the Lions topped the Firebirds. Thompson's key target this week was Denzel Irvin, who caught 6 passes for 131 yards.

Thompson was the best running back in 2A District 4 this week. He ran for 63 yards on 8 carries as Foundation Academy defeated Agape Christian Academy. Noel Gusler also contributed to the rushing game with 20 yards on the ground.

Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, the Storm's Lewis and Nekari Jones have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-4 quarterback Lewis has thrown for 1,384 yards this season, while Jones has 45 catches for 532 yards. Gabriel Walker from Brad Lord's team leads the league in rushing with 447 yards.

The Saints made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,634 from 11,343. The improvement was the result of a 29-12 victory over Agape Christian Academy last week.
