Recap: Delta Eagles vs. Yorktown Tigers
The Delta Eagles fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 24-21 win over Yorktown on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for Delta, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Kaiden Bond had a dynamite game for Delta, rushing for 174 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per carry. Bond was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 56 yards.
Another reason for the win was Delta's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 3.5 sacks. Leading the way was Braxton Russell and his two sacks.
Yorktown's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Mason Moulton, who threw for 199 yards and three touchdowns, and Ephraim Daugherty who picked up 82 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Delta's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Yorktown, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.
Delta will head out on the road to face off against Garrett at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Garrett will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. Yorktown does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
