Volleyball Recap: Clayton Comets vs. Garner Trojans

After flying high against South Garner last Tuesday, Clayton came back down to earth. The Comets took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Garner Trojans on Tuesday. The Comets haven't had much luck with the Trojans recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

While Clayton ultimately came up short, they really made Garner work, particularly in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 26-24, 19-25, 25-18.

Despite the loss, Clayton saw an underclassman step up: freshman Layla Seremet had nine digs and three assists.

Haley Heath was the offensive standout of the match as she had ten digs and two aces. That's the most digs she has posted since back in August.

Clayton's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Garner, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Clayton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Cleveland on the 9th. As for Garner, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-1 defeat against Fuquay - Varina on the 9th.
