Softball Recap: Wautoma Comes Up Short

Wautoma came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 18-2 to the River Valley Blackhawks. If the Hornets were looking for revenge after losing 3-2 to the Blackhawks when the teams met back in May of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Wautoma's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for River Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 6-10.

Wautoma and River Valley could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. The Hornets (ranked 279th) will meet Nekoosa (ranked 126th) at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, River Valley will face off against Richland Center at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (266 vs. 92).
