For the first time this season, Aurora will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will challenge the Adams Central Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Aurora will be strutting in after a victory while Adams Central will be coming in after a defeat.
Aurora is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Northwest on Friday. The Huskies walked away with a 34-21 win over the Vikings. The victory continues a trend for the Huskies in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won five in a row.
It was another big night for Wyatt Pollet, who rushed for 174 yards and two scores. Canon Allen got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Aurora was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 276 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northwest only rushed for 174.
Meanwhile, Adams Central played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Central City and fell 56-27. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska football rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while the Bison are ranked fifth).
Aurora will need to focus on slowing down Jackson Foster, one of several Adams Central players who made an impact when they last played. He threw for 262 yards and three touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Riley Propp, who gained 79 total yards and a touchdown.
The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-3. As for Adams Central, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
Friday's contest might be decided in the trenches. Aurora has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 190.2 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Adams Central, though, as they've been averaging only 74.6 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Aurora strolled past Adams Central in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a score of 21-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Huskies since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
