Baseball Recap: Calvary Christian Academy Beats Pompano Beach for Their Third Straight Win

Calvary Christian Academy waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Pompano Beach Golden Tornadoes.

Carlos Lugo made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for Calvary Christian Academy: the team is 6-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-7-3 otherwise.

In other batting news, Calvary Christian Academy got a massive performance out of Preston Bielec, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those four runs gave Bielec a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Blake Sundberg, who scored three runs while going 3-for-5.

Calvary Christian Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pompano Beach only managed six hits.

Calvary Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 12-9-3. As for Pompano Beach, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.
