Football Recap: Yulee Comes Up Short Despite Myla Smith's Big Defensive Game

Yulee fought the good fight in their overtime game against Florida School for the Deaf & Blind on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 21-14 to the Florida School for the Deaf & Blind Dragons. The Hornets were up 14-0 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Although Yulee took the loss, they still got scores from Kamilya Johnson and Rheyna Hilton.

Yulee didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. Myla Smith led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by herself. What's more, Haley Ross posted three total tackles, the most she's had since back in March of 2024.

Having lost for the first time this season, Yulee fell to 2-1.

Yulee has already played their next matchup, a 13-7 win against Andrew Jackson on the 27th. As for Florida School for the Deaf & Blind, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-0 victory against Orange Park on the 27th.
