Basketball Game Preview: Mountain View Mountain Lions vs. Pomona Panthers

The Mountain View Mountain Lions will face off against the Pomona Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Mountain View unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They had to suffer through a 50-19 loss at the hands of Heritage. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it 12 in a row.

Despite the defeat, Mountain View saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Izzy Tonniges posted six points. Another player making a difference was Ellie Roberts, who put up seven points.

Pomona kicked off their season on the road on Tuesday and hit a couple of potholes. They were beaten by Greeley West 45-9.

Despite the loss, Pomona saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Audrianna Mondragon scored five points and four steals.

Mountain View barely slipped by Pomona in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, winning 43-42. Will the Mountain Lions repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
