Football Game Preview: DuQuoin Indians vs. Murphysboro Red Devils

DuQuoin is on an eight-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Murphysboro is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Indians will host the Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Murphysboro took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on DuQuoin, who comes in off a win.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between DuQuoin and Nashville, and DuQuoin kept the tradition alive. The Indians took down the Hornets 28-13 on Friday.

DuQuoin's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Andrew Jones, who rushed for 152 yards and three TDs. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Jones, who gained 146 total yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: DuQuoin was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 334 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks on offense in their last four games, Murphysboro finally came back down to earth on Friday. They lost 28-7 to Carterville. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 242nd, while the Lions are ranked 91st).

Murphysboro's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-4. As for DuQuoin, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.
