Softball Recap: Jefferson Area Beats Pymatuning Valley for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Jefferson Area waltzed into their game on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 10-9 W against the Pymatuning Valley Lakers. For the Falcons, this counts as revenge for the 6-3 victory the Lakers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Jefferson Area got a massive performance out of Alaina Barress, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Barress has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ada Sirrine, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.

Jefferson Area hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Jefferson Area's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-11. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Pymatuning Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-8.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Lakers beat Jefferson Area by a score of 15-8 later that day.
