Basketball Recap: Gerstell Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Caitlin Carver and Kiara Hardy

Gerstell Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 60-34 to the Indian Creek Eagles. Gerstell Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Indian Creek apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2019.

Despite the loss, Gerstell Academy had strong showings from Kiara Hardy, who went 7 for 16 on her way to 17 points and seven boards, and Caitlin Carver, who posted seven points. Hardy has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. Cambrie Franks also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

Gerstell Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Indian Creek, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gerstell Academy will take on St. John's Catholic Prep at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Indian Creek, they will square off against John Carroll at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. John Carroll will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something Indian Creek surely won't give up without a fight.
